The Process:
Research the college of your choice and gather the following information: A. Name of college B. Type of college C. Special areas of study. What is the college known for? D. Location, is there any special advantages to the college being located in a specific area of the country, ie: sun, snow, mountains, sports, other areas of interest E.Famous Faculty F. School Colors, mascots, sports teams, art galleries, labs, etc. G. Special Architectual Features H. Any other distingushing features I. Percentage of out of state residents attending the school, ethnic backgrounds of students.
Research and gather at least 20 images from the school website to be used in the Multi Image Silhouette. 1. Complete the Multi Image Silhouette (instructions below) and save the file. 3. Begin to assemble the poster using the silhouette, lettering and all important information you would like to include in the poster. 4. Be sure to limit your choice of colors and include an interesting background. (see examples in class)
1. Go to google and download 20 to 25 images that represent your college. Keep them in a folder in your documents called "images".
2. Make a new file (8 x 10 , RGB, 72, transparent) and drag the image into the file. Save the file as "silhouette".
3. Create a new layer by clicking on the new layer icon on the bottom of the layers palette, Press d to reset the foreground color to black then press Alt/ backspace to fill the selection with black. You should see the figure's silhouette filled with black. Press control d to deselect. You may need to resize the image so the figure fills the page. 4. Your goal is to cover the entire black silhouette with the little images you have saved. You will need all the other related images in this file. Open the related image, then click and drag it into your original document, "silhouette". If you need to resize it, press control t to bring up the free transform tool. While holding down the shift key, click on one of the corner adjustment points and drag it inward. Once you've resized and / or repositioned the new image press enter to apply the transformation. 5. Your goal here is to fill the silhouette with the images you have saved. Repeat step four as many times as necessary to fill the silhouette with images. It is ok if the images overlap the border of the figure, we will delete the overlapping areas later. Don't worry so darn much. Just use the black silhouette as a guide. 6.Link all of the related images together EXCEPT THE BLACK SILHOUETTE LAYER by clicking on the box directly to the left of the layer in the layers palette ( a small chain link will appear to indicate that the layers are linked). Now, take a deep breath, and go to Layer/ merge linked. All the little images should be merged into one layer. 7. CONTROL CLICK ON THE BLACK SLHOUETTE LAYER to make a selection of the silhouette. Go to select inverse delete to trim the images from the silhouette. 8. Use a photo with the motion blur effect to create a background or any effect you have learned in the texture lessons. Refer to examples in class. 9. Add the type and work on the composition using the other required elements (date , time, etc. ) Save the file. |
