ctrl + n creates a new FILE

ctrl + o opens a file

ctrl + 0 fits the image onto the screen

ctrl + a select all

ctrl + e = merges the targeted layer down into the layer below it

ctrl + shift + J = "jumps" (cuts and copies) the selection to a new layer

ctrl + shift + alt + E = merges a copy of all your layers onto one layer
without deleting the layers.

Ctrl + R = shows and hides the ruler bar ctrl + c = copies the selected area

ctrl + v = pastes the copied area

press D = sets the foreground and background colors to default black and white

press x = switches the foreground and background colors

press g = selects the gradient tool

press w = selects the magic Wand tool

press m = selects the marquee tool

press v = selects the move tool
